Hi, I'm Jesslyn Shields, and I’m a recent graduate of University of Georgia Masters of Social Work program. Because I'm inexplicably now in my 40s, I've had the gift of exploring a wide variety of careers and passions. For nearly two decades, I've worked as a freelance writer and researcher, and I’ve devoted much of my professional life to nonprofit advocacy for clean water and wild places. I’ve served as the founder and director of a wilderness camp for teens, taught middle school science, and guided wilderness trips for almost thirty years.
In my work with clients, I focus on helping each person uncover their unique gifts and personal values, building skills to create more gratifying, authentic, and purposeful experiences and more fulfilling relationships. I believe therapy can help us forge lives that ensure our own liberation and well-being, as well as that of those around us.
Things I love: singing with my friends, wandering around outside with my dogs looking at stuff, making collages with old magazines, exercising in all weather, and chatting -- maybe even with you!
