When addressing mental health, it is vital to acknowledge the influence of the environment around us. In recent years, the world has presented us with numerous challenges. I believe in taking a holistic approach to therapy that considers individual experiences as well as the influence of family, community, and society. By exploring these various dimensions, we can uncover insights and develop effective strategies to navigate life. Using a collaborative and compassionate approach, I work with clients to process grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

I graduated from the University of Georgia with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work, where I gained experience working with people with substance use disorders and older adult populations.

I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, but I have a particular passion for supporting young adults as they navigate significant milestones and transitions in life. For those entering or navigating college, I provide guidance in adjusting to campus life, managing academic pressures, and navigating the complexities of friendships and romantic relationships. Additionally, I offer support to those venturing into the professional world by helping navigate the challenges of entering the workforce, adapting to new professional expectations, and finding a healthy work-life balance. I understand that these pivotal moments can bring both excitement and stress, and I am dedicated to providing support while fostering effective communication skills, healthy boundaries, and meaningful connections.

With a background in hospice care, I have worked closely with patients and families dealing with terminal illnesses and have extensive experience in dementia care. I provide a compassionate and safe space for processing emotions, finding solace, and discovering resilience during challenging times. Whether you're grappling with grief, navigating end-of-life transitions, or experiencing caregiver burnout, I am here to support you on your unique journey.

Starting therapy can be daunting, but I am committed to providing you with a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space to work through the reasons that brought us together. I offer in-person sessions at our office near downtown Athens or via Telehealth. I can accept private pay, Cigna, Aetna, or Blue Cross/Anthem insurance. Contact me to schedule a free phone consultation. My email is secouchtherapy@gmail.com
